A sheriff's vehicle parked outside Hawkins' home in Bellevue, Neb. His landlord, Debora Muruca-Kovac, told reporters that Hawkins was recently fired from his job at McDonald's and broke up with a girlfriend. She said he telephoned her about 1 p.m. on Wednesday, saying he had left a note - a suicide note. Hours later, she saw victims of the shooting at the Nebraska Medical Center, where she works as a nurse.
