Man Allegedly Kills and Cooks Wife

March 02, 2001

A Jackson man will stand trial for murdering his wife and has been charged with cutting her up and cooking her.

After 12 years of marriage Kevin Artz said he looked at his wife Patricia and saw the devil staring back.

Artz allegedly struck his wife with a metal pipe, dismembered her body and cooked it for two days at their family restaurant in July of 1999.

Police arrested Artz while he was putting a box that contained the severed head of his wife on a nearby porch.

Neighbors were shocked by the news.

It's pretty creepy. We were laying sleeping in our beds, you know, 100 yards away while he was doing that," said neighbor James Weston. "I don't know. We were pretty upset about it. Even now to this day it's kind of hard to think about it. Thinking that she went through that."

Several weeks prior to the alleged murder Artz underwent brain surgery to remove a large blood clot. Even though he has been found competent to stand trial, several defense experts are now in the process of testifying that the operation caused him to go insane.

Some of Artz' neighbors said this was the only explanation they could accept.

"The cops were never called there," said Rose Hubbell. "We never heard of any domestic violence or repeated police scenes there at all."

Neighbors said they are grateful that the restaurant has now been transformed into an entirely different kind of business.

Patricia's family members will not comment until the trial is over.

Man Allegedly Kills and Cooks Wife Because He Thought She was Satan

Associated Press

One day after 12 years of marriage, and maybe not so coincidentally after a brain operation to remove a large blood clot, Kevin Artz took one look at his wife and saw the devil staring back.

Patricia, a.k.a The Lord of the Underworld, looked nothing like he expected.

Many men think their wives are straight out of hell, however very few have the balls to take Satan on with a led pipe.

Artz having no fear of the devil’s otherworldly powers and believing  that he had Jesus at his side he picked up a led pipe and busted her head open.

Not to chance Satan coming back from the...uh...wherever he goes, Artz then dismembered her body and cooked it for two days at their family restaurant.

Police arrested Artz while he was putting a box that contained the severed head of his wife on a nearby porch.

That is a hell of an operating procedure. What the kind of condition was he in before the operation.

I do love a nutcase that turns for very little reason, or at least due to a sudden mental lapse.

In Kevin Artz's case it was quite possibly that fact that several weeks prior to his alleged murderous activity he underwent brain surgery to remove a large blood clot. And it would seem that the surgery either didn't work properly, or at the very least led to a large mental disjunction.

After 12 years of marriage Kevin Artz said he looked at his wife Patricia and saw the devil staring back. A pretty fucked up though most would think, but for Kevin it seemed to be a pretty normal thought.

So what do you do when you become convinced your wife is the devil?

For Kevin, there was only one solution, he beat his wife to death with a metal pipe, dismembered her body and cooked it for two days at their family restaurant in July of 1999.

He then decided to put a box containing his wife's severed head on a neighbours porch, but someone thought he was acting suspiciously and called police. They arrested him as he was leaving the scene.

Perhaps even more bizarre than his actions was the fact that Artz was found competent to stand trial.

Unfortunately that's all I know, so I can't tell you what the verdict of the trial was.

One thing I have learnt is that the restaurant has now been transformed into an entirely different kind of business, which I'm sure has pleased his former neighbours.
